
HADAF Center For Human Rights organized a workshop under the title " Tolerance Between Obstacles and Requirements ", in the presence of Dr. Yusef Safi ( HADAF's Executive Manager ) and Mr. Talal Abu Rukba ( Director Of Ramallah Center For Human Rights Studies – Gaza Office ), and ( 40 ) female and male youth from university students and volunteers in NGO's, within activities of its project under the title " Promoting Youth's Rights And Civic Engagement " funded by ( EU & NHRF ).
The workshop was opened by a presentation from Dr. Yusef Safi, who welcomed the guest and participants, stressing HADAF's belief to have tolerant, cultured and well-aware youth generation able to build a strong community and achieve their goals and ambitions.
He added that tolerance in our Palestinian society and all other societies is linked to respect of the other, and that all problems in our life results from the negative style of thinking we adopt.
Mr. Talal Abu Rukba, indicated the need for having legal environment with independent judiciary to consolidate the culture of tolerance, calling the attention that difference is a healthy phenomenon that should be activated for building a strong and tolerant community. He also added that dangers of absence of tolerance lies in dissemination of violence in the society, stressing the need to activate civil society institutions for the sake of constituting a youth lobby that have knowledge and confidence that qualify them to defend their rights and disseminate tolerance culture. The workshop ended with recommendations including:
1. Activating the role of civil society institutions
2. Denouncing the partisan media
3. Personal freedom ends on others rights and freedoms
4. Self-development, and enhancing respect of the other. |
